Flint and Brick Victorian cottage
The Royal Cottages are a row of four brick and flint terraced cottages situated alongside Mundesley Beck. The Cottages take their name from the nearby Royal Hotel and were built in the 1850s.
Well situated in the seaside village of Mundesley, the cottage is only a short walk to the sandy beach and a few minutes walk to Mundesley’s shops and amenities.
Newly refurbished to a very high standard, and awarded 4 stars by Enjoy England, it retains many of its original features and can comfortably accommodate up to four people plus a cot. The whole cottage is double glazed and is centrally heated via a gas boiler.
Kitchen
Shaker style cottage kitchen complete with fridge-freezer, electric fan oven, glass ceramic hob, dishwasher and microwave.
There is an excellent supply of pots, pans and cutlery and ample cupboards for food storage.
A wooden table seats four people.
Adding character to the kitchen, the old original brick bread oven is preserved in the corner of the room and the original Norfolk pamment floor tiles have been retained.
There is a selection of local interest, cookery and travel books for you browse along with a mini-hifi.
Living Room
The lounge centres around a feature fireplace with an electric cast iron stove.
It is furnished with two leather sofas and has a flat screen LCD TV with satellite SKY+ HD (Movies and Sports), DVD and wi-fi broadband.
A handmade oak stable door leads onto the front garden, ideal to keep open on those hot Summer evenings.
Bedroom 1
Narrow stairs lead from the kitchen to the main bedroom and bathroom. The main bedroom is decorated in neutral colours with a double bed and pine chest of drawers. The bed linen is fair trade organic cotton made in the UK and during your stay may use the organic cotton bathrobes.
We know that some people suffer from allergies and have made sure that all duvets and pillows are cotton with polyester hypo-allergenic fillings.
The beds have two pillows per person with bed and pillow protectors which are freshly laundered for each guest. There is also an organic cotton blanket to snuggle up to if you feel cold. A modern flat screen LCD TV with Freeview is also supplied and a Radio Alarm plus iPod charger.
Bathroom
A spacious bathroom with toilet, bath with shower mixer, sink, separate shower, shaver point, extractor, heated towel rail and airing cupboard.
All towels provided for your use are organic cotton.
Bedroom 2 The Cabin
A second set of stairs lead from the first floor landing to the large attic bedroom, recently refurbished to reveal original oak beams.
Two pine full size single beds with fair trade organic cotton linen, oak bedside tables, children's toy corner and built in wardrobe.
The beds have two pillows per person with bed and pillow protectors which are freshly laundered for each guest.
There are also organic cotton blankets to snuggle up to if you feel cold.
Child Friendly
Having young children ourselves, we have tried to make the cottage as child friendly as possible.
Available at no extra charge, are stair gates, high chair, cot, digital baby listening monitor, rubber bath mat and a bed guard. CBeebies and Disney channels are available on SKY for the children to enjoy plus a range of kids DVDs. In the top bedroom we have created a ‘magical’ toy corner for children to discover with eco-friendly wooden toys, puppets and books. The gardens are fully enclosed and secured with iron gates and there is plenty of space for children to play.
We have created a ‘special’ area, for children to explore, in the shed at the bottom of the garden. There are garden games, buckets, spades and even a croquet set to keep the adults amused.
Eco and Organic
To create a hint of ‘green’ at the cottage we have provided for your use a selection of eco and organic toiletries and laundry products including Ecover, Clear Spring and Faith in Nature.
Most of the cleaning products used to service the cottage are eco friendly.
During your stay why not browse through the Green magazines and books and relax in the organic cotton bathrobes.
All towels, bedlinen and T-towels are organic, fair trade.
Gardens
There are pretty enclosed gardens to the front and rear of the cottage with wrought iron gates at the side and leading on to the drive.
The back door leads out on to a patio area with chairs and table.
This garden is laid to flower borders, with a good sized lawn & features a large (old!) apple tree.
There are also two cobble stone outhouses, one is equipped with a washing machine and drier and the other is an outside toilet comprising of a modern flush toilet and hand basin.
The cottage has its own private parking and there is space for up to two cars on the shingle driveway.
